Natural Bodz is dedicated to providing inspirational stories to help others reach their personal goals, and in this issue we interview 2015 Figure Australia Champion Juanita O’Dell as she prepares to compete for the second time at the Fitness America™ Weekend in the fabulous Las Vegas.

Let’s start by jumping back to September last year to the Musclemania Australia event where you won your class and the overall Figure Australia title, plus earned the prestigious Fitness Universe Pro Status. Can you share your thoughts and feelings about that experience and what it meant to you?

When I think back to the exact moment the word that jumps to mind is SHOCK. I was surrounded by well-seasoned amazing Figure competitors. I didn’t think for a moment before I walked out that I would walk away with the overall title. I mean we all tell ourselves its possible, that’s what helps you get out of bed in the wee hours to get your workouts done and keeps you on track when you are hungrier then you ever thought possible. For me my success meant more than just a title. It meant that for every sacrifice I had made over the year, for everything my family and friends had done for me, for every person who had helped me even if it was just a message here and there to ask me how I was holding up, it was for them to. I wouldn’t have made it to stage had it not been for all their support.

You made your Pro Debut last year at the Fitness America Weekend in the Figure Pro Category, narrowly missing out on a top 5 placing but earning the “Most Aesthetic” award. What did you take from the whole Vegas experience, and how have you used this to fuel your passion to bring your all time best to the 2016 Vegas stage?

Where do I even start A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. For me Vegas meant so much as it was my first trip overseas and to be able to experience this with my Australian team mates of which who I consider my fitness family now, is something I will cherish forever. The team atmosphere created by Steve and Antonietta is something you have to experience to understand.
