Bec Rosser In The Spotlight

Bec Rosser of Queensland features in Australian Natural Bodz Magazine Volume 6 issue 2 In the Spotlight Profile. Occupation: Recruitment Specialist Years in the fitness industry: I have always worked out being a casual gym goer for since I left high school. It has been the past couple of years in which I grew a love for the industry and taken my training more seriously.

What made you get into fitness modeling? When I was younger I was a glamour model however I grew out of this pretty quickly. Once I finished modeling I had no purpose to my training, searching for a new goal I became curious about fitness modeling. I attended a bodybuilding competition in 2011; instantly I fell in love. The next day I began to make enquiries to find out what it would take to get on stage. It took one year of building a foundation and I competed the next year in 2012.

Competition Titles/achievements? 2012 2nd place INBA, 2013 7th place ANB Asia Pacific, Power2Perform; Core Active and Victorious Sponsored athlete.

What type of diet do you follow leading into a Fitness Modeling event? On season my diet is quite strict; everything I eat is accounted for. I usually start competition preparation from 16 weeks out. My diet consists of protein, carbohydrate and fats. Each week my diet changes which will usually be a slight carbohydrate drop week on week leading into the comp. One meal a week I have an off meal/refuel meal which helps me power through the next week.

How many days a week do you train and what do you feel is more important when it comes to achieving a fitness model body, weight training or cardio? Training 6 days a week isn’t a burden or hassle when you have a passion and drive for such a great sport. A mixture of both weigh training and cardio is important however my preference is weight training. I will continue to push myself to achieve new goals to grow certain areas I feel need work. I have found HIIT training to be the most effective form of cardio. I will incorporate a few HIIT style sessions into my routine when prepping for a comp.

How has fitness changed your life? Now that I have gone down this path I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. Getting on stage is such a tough but rewarding journey. It takes strength, determination, motivationand a never give up attitude. Throughout the journey I have grown and learned so much about myself. This journey has taught me how to really commit myself to a goal and the dedication it takes to achieve it.

Future goals in the fitness industry? Next year I have set myself another huge goal of competing in an International competition. It will take a lot of determination and commitment to get there but I am dedicated to putting in the work. My long term goal is to be a fitness ambassador for the women of Australia.Â
